Post 23: Back Crying

I’ve been home a week now and it really does feel like it was a forever ago that I was in hospital, in Birmingham, having had surgery.

Whilst I was in hospital, the wound on my back would leak a little during the night and soaked into the bedsheets.

The fluid coming out was an orangey-clear colour, and is part of the body’s way of protecting itself.

The Health Care Assistants in hospital would change the sheets each day, but they had to change it twice a day for me at times.

Since coming home, this ‘back-crying’ has continued and become a mini-issue in itself, as we’re not in the habit of changing bedsheets at home on a daily basis.

We’ve been trying to ‘dress’ the wound with an absorptive plaster, but the adhesive part of the dressing caused a reaction in my skin, making it sting when we were having to constantly apply and then remove a dressing.

BTW - there’s no pain to this crying – it’s becoming more of a nuisance than anything.
