Post 17: Bottle Drains

So here's a few more photos on the 3x drain bottles that are still attracted to me...

The drains are essentially pipes that go into the fluid filled areas during surgery, and aim to remove the fluid into the bottles, which can be measured and assessed.

The fluid is 'panic' fluid created by the body during a trauma, and is designed to protect the body. Except in this case, we are intentionally doing this trauma but don't want/need the fluid.

The second photo shows a fluid filled area under my right arm which hasn't drained yet - either:

  • the pipe is blocked and not transferring the fluid to the bottle.
  • the pipe is not blocked but might be in the wrong place.
  • the pipe don't cover that area of the body.

Hoping to speak to the plastic surgery crew tomorrow to see what the state of play is with the drains and bottles.

(And yes, in the second photo, they have shaved a part of my chest and it has started to regrow a little already, meaning that when the clear sicky plaster covering my right nipple comes off, that's certainly going to smart!!)
